UAT Test Manager – Contract

We are seeking an experienced Test Manager with 10+ years’ experience in the insurance and/or financial services sector to lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) across multiple applications and solutions for an international IT programme. You will plan and oversee UAT, support and guide global business teams, and ensure testing is executed and governed so solutions meet real business needs. This is a hybrid role with occasional office attendance.

Key Responsibilities

• Test Management and UAT Leadership
  • Define and manage UAT strategies, plans and schedules aligned to programme goals.
  • Design and oversee test conditions, test cases and test scenarios across multiple applications and solutions.
  • Lead UAT entry and exit criteria, gate reviews and sign‑off processes with clear acceptance standards and traceable decisions.
  • Coordinate and oversee UAT execution by business SMEs and UAT teams, keeping testing aligned to business objectives and programme priorities.
• Ways of Working and Methodologies
  • Operate within agile, iterative and waterfall (or hybrid) delivery methodologies, adapting test approaches to project requirements and governance.
  • Champion good practice in test management, execution and defect handling across UAT teams.
  • Adjust plans and priorities in dynamic or ambiguous settings when strategies or scopes pivot.
• People Leadership & Team Support
  • Lead, support and inspire country‑aligned business SME testing teams, fostering collaboration and high performance.
  • Mentor and coach UAT Test Analysts and business SME teams to promote continuous improvement and testing capability.
  • Provide in‑person support to business SME UAT teams where required; occasional travel within EMEA may be needed.
• Tools & Test Enablement
  • Ensure effective use of test management, defect management and collaboration tools to plan, track and report UAT activities.
  • Support selection, implementation and rollout of tools, upgrades or processes that enhance business testing capabilities and visibility.
• Stakeholder Management & Communication
  • Act as a key interface between the Business Test Lead, programme leadership and business SME teams, communicating test status, issues and risks clearly and timely.
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders to prioritise UAT scope based on business risk and value.
  • Produce concise, insight‑driven reporting on UAT progress, quality, risks and readiness for go‑live.
  • Be willing to travel within Europe/EMEA infrequently to support key workshops and stakeholder engagements.
• DevOps and Automation Awareness
  • Apply understanding of DevOps pipelines and automated testing to position UAT within end‑to‑end delivery and release processes.
  • Work with technical and QA teams to identify automation opportunities that support UAT (e.g. data preparation, regression packs) while maintaining business‑led validation.

Skills & Experience

• 10+ years’ experience in testing or related roles within insurance or financial services, including significant UAT exposure.
• Proven experience managing and executing testing across agile and waterfall (or hybrid) methodologies.
• Strong collaboration and leadership skills; experience motivating and managing global business testing teams under tight deadlines.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including engaging senior stakeholders.
• Ability to build relationships with inexperienced business SMEs, UAT teams and technical SMEs.
• ISTQB Certified Tester – Foundation Level, or equivalent industry‑recognised qualification.
• Good understanding of automated testing tools (e.g. Selenium, Playwright) and DevOps practices and how they support UAT and release processes.
• Self‑motivated, able to work with minimal supervision while providing clear direction to others.
• Fluent in English; additional fluency in Dutch, French, German or Spanish is an advantage.
• Excellent written skills for authoring and reviewing test plans, strategies and documentation.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and workstreams in a fast‑paced, global and sometimes unstructured environment.

Working Arrangement
